Garden Valley Ritual Tells All
It snowed yesterday in Garden Valley and again this morning. Never the less, I have official confirmation that spring has arrived.
In your neighborhood, you might depend on the calendar, the weatherman or even the Farmer’s Almanac.
In Garden Valley we have our own way of confirming the changes of the season.
To start with, the vegetation starts to come alive. Trees start to bud out. The pastures turn green and lush. The deer and elk come down to the valley floor to nibble on the fresh sprouts. Indeed, the elk are abundant right now.
For over 20 years, I have been able to count on a particular Garden Valley ritual to mark the change of seasons. This morning marked the definitive proof that spring has arrived. Yes, I have been watching for the signs for weeks. I am happy to announce that Kenny moved his calves to the east pasture today.
