Independence Day
July 2nd, 2008 Categories: Garden Valley Events, Garden Valley Living, Garden Valley Real Estate
4th of July - Salute The Red, White and Blue
I always look forward to the 4th of July in Garden Valley Idaho. The town’s celebration is ….. hmmm, I’d say robust! There will be no shortage of flags, grilled food, duck races, water guns, parades, uniforms and fireworks. The whole town will come together in one central location to mark the most important anniversary in our countries history ….. and have fun doing it.
Challenge! Meet Me At the Flag Raising.
The Garden Valley 4th of July Calendar of Events starts with a Flag Raising Ceremony at 8:30 am at the Garden Valley Properties office. The scouts raise the flag, General Kane honors us with a few words about the “Stars and Stripes” attendees recite the “Pledge of Allegiance”, and the gifted cast of the Starlight Mountain Theater lead us in the “Star Spangled Banner”. It’s an appropriate start to the day’s events.
I am always pleased to see the same folks attend each year. I am always disappointed to see the same absences each year. I challenge you to start your day with a reflection of what the 4th of July really means. Bring your kids, bring your Moms, Let’s not forget the real meaning of this anniversary.
GOD BLESS THE USA

I really enjoy this annual event and look forward to it every year. In addition to the great wine tasting, Terrace Lakes invites quality artists and Craftpersons to attend the festival. Some of my favorite finds have been wood carvings, willow furniture, quilts, hand dyed fabrics, scented candles and jewelry. Believe it or not, I usually start my Christmas shopping at the Terrace Lakes Wine and Art Festival. It’s tough to think about Christmas in the summer sun, but I’ve had great luck with the gifts I have given from the Terrace Lakes artists. I usually find something special for myself, too.
My favorite part though, is relaxing and visiting with friends and neighbors, meeting new friends and enjoying the wine, music and food. Hope to see you there!

Taking Care of Business - 4 Legged Style
Gosh! It must be 10 or 11 years now since Dr. Keith Ruble bought the Cascade Veterinary Clinic in Cascade Idaho. The Veterinary Clinic had a small satellite office in Garden Valley. We were all thrilled to have the convenience of veterinarian service in Garden Valley. The alternative was a 45 minute drive to Cascade. The satellite office was small and offered limited services. The drive to Cascade was still necessary for surgery and x-ray or any overnight procedure.
Dr. Keith’s reputation spread through our small town very quickly (as most news does). The most difficult animals were calmed by his touch, he proved to be very knowledgeable, thorough and had a great bed side manner with the animal owners, as well. Soon, just about every local was moving their veterinary care to Dr. Keith.
As his veterinary business grew, Dr. Keith was able to build a full service veterinary clinic in Garden Valley. The building is handsome, functional and always immaculate. Dr. Keith’s staff is wonderful. They are always friendly and helpful.
Over the years, Dr. Keith has taken care of our horses, dogs, cats, birds, turtles, rats, hamsters, you name it. He’s seen sore feet, ear infections, wounds, coughs and colds and some real serious stuff, too. He has even been open to working with non-traditional pet care. Building a partnership with other care providers.
No longer just a convenience, the Garden Valley, Cascade Veterinary Clinic has become part of our lives. Dr. Keith a trusted friend and adviser.
Whether your menagerie includes pampered pets or working teams, cranky cats or fishes, Dr. Keith is the man (or should I say doc.)
You can find Dr. Keith, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at
15 Veterinary Way
Garden Valley Idaho 83622
208-462-3064
or
Call him at the Cascade Animal Hospital
208-382-4590
By the way, Dr. Keith has some great 2 acre lots available for sale. Clickity Click here to find out more about that.

Garden Valley Friday Favorites

A VIEW OF CROUCH?
What is Crouch? Crouch is the only incorporated city in Garden Valley, Idaho. It is the hub of the community. The grocery store, library, hardware store, community center, bank, senior center, gym, Garden Valley Properties office, and many more businesses and services are located in Crouch. The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony is held here. The 4th of July parade and fireworks are here, too. I could go on for hours. I fell in love with Crouch the first time I visited in 1980. There is even a web cam in Crouch.
Now there is land available just outside the city limits. Past the grocery store and across the bridge, just beyond the river front city park, is Brookview Lane.
Almost 3 acres with a great well, standard septic permit, incredible views and level topography. All of these characteristics are difficult to find on one piece of property. Within the past couple of years the owner has planted over 50 trees and shrubs, including numerous varieties that love that Garden Valley zone.
Available now for $149,000
You’ve got to be curious now! So contact me for all the details.
